Former President of Albertsons Joins Board of In-Store Marketing Firm
SALT LAKE CITY – August 1, 2005 – Klever Marketing, Inc. (KLMK.OB) announces the addition of Richard King, former president and chief operating officer of Albertsons, Inc., to its board of directors. In addition, the company elevates William C. Bailey to serve as interim chairman of the board and appoints Daniel L. Warner as interim president of the company. The board makes these appointments as it positions itself for the execution of the next phases of its joint venture with Fujitsu Transaction Solutions and bringing to market the U-Scan Shopper.
King comes to the board with extensive experience in the retail food industry. As President and COO of Albertsons, the grocery retailing giant, he was responsible for a $16 billion operation, nearly 1,000 stores and 100,000 employees. King is currently Vice President of Associated Foods Stores located in Salt Lake City, Utah. Associated Foods supplies 600 grocery stores in 8 western states. King has also served as president of Associated Retail Stores. These stores are located in Utah and operate under the banners of Macey’s, Dan’s, Lin’s and Dick’s. In the past he has served on the boards of Albertsons, TJ International, and Deluxe Ice Cream, and currently is a director of Western Association of Food Chains, Encore Associates Advisory Board and Associated Retail Stores.
Bailey has been a member of the Klever board since its inception. He is owner and president of Mount Olympus Waters, a water bottling and distribution company with operations in Utah, Nevada, Idaho, and Wyoming. Previously he was founder and president of Water and Power Technologies, a water purification technology company that he sold in 1990. Bailey has served as a board member and president of the International Bottled Water Association, as well as a director of the American Bottled Water Association. In 1987 he received the industry’s first Award of Excellence and has been inducted into the Beverage World Hall of Fame.
Warner steps into his role as president after working as the company’s executive vice-president of business development when the joint venture agreement with Fujitsu was completed. Prior to joining Klever Marketing he worked as vice president of operations and sales for PerfectPractice.MD., an internet-based medical software firm, general manager of operations for Meyer & Leichty, a design and advertising firm, as well as director of business development for Freeport.com, an internet-based permission marketing company . Warner also served as a strategy consultant for Monitor Company, working with clients such as Coca-Cola, Navistar, Union Bank of California, and other Fortune 500 companies.
Continuing on the board are Michael Mills and C. Terry Warner. Mills is president and CEO of Olson Holdings, Inc., an agricultural and investment holding company with operations in the western United States. Mr. Mills began his career with Deloitte & Touche in Los Angeles after graduating from the University of Utah summa cum laude in accounting and math. Warner, a Brigham Young University professor, is founder of the widely-respected Arbinger Institute and has served as a member of or an advisor to boards in the management consulting, steel, chemical, health care, and mental health industries.
Klever Marketing, Inc. (KLMK.OB), in partnership with Fujitsu Transaction Solutions, markets and sells a proprietary wireless, in-store advertising and communications system that is mounted to the shopping cart handle for supermarket, mass merchandising and other retail applications. Targeted ads and promotions are delivered to the customer through a small, electronic, remotely programmable display affixed to the shopping-cart handle.
